Radar Issue 04
available for pre-order
We are now accepting pre-orders for the spring 2026 issue of Radar!
This issue comes at a time of serious changes in our country. The balance of forces seems to be tilting away from the state and back toward autonomous resistance movements. We are excited to present essays and contributions about topics around the world, charting the course of this shift. Some of our associates traveled to El Salvador to connect with organizers there and to study the effects of Bukelismo and the state of exception firsthand. They have generously collaborated with us to produce reflections on these efforts, which you can read in “When the Ash Settles.”
After the publication of issue 03, members of our editorial collective visited Chicago to attend a conference. At an after-party event, they met Abdul Shanna, a former BLA prisoner of war. Abdul organized closely with James “Yaki” Sayles, about whom we published an essay last year. We are overjoyed to be in touch with Abdul. The Revolutionary Intercommunal Research Group conducted an interview with him, in which he reflects on his life in the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army.
Just before the current ceasefire in Gaza, a friend of Radar joined a solidarity flotilla to Palestine called A Thousand Madleens. On his trip, he sent friends and loved ones photographs and updates periodically. Inspired by his journey, we asked him for permission to turn a few of his updates into a piece for publication. He agreed. Those reflections, with our introduction, can be read in “The Lee Shore.”
Finally, a correspondent from Mexico sent us a historical look at the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion. This group formed alongside the Liga Comunista 23 de Septiembre, covered at great length in Radar 03 in the essay “Autonomy Armed, Autonomy Disarmed.” This new article, “The Fire and the Word,” picks up directly where the previous essay left off, helping us to trace the mysterious development of the world famous indigenous movement known as the Zapatistas.
With the help of our readers, independent distributors, and friends, we have sold more than 5,000 copies of Radar. We will continue to fulfill orders as long as we have them, but we expect to sell out of issue 02 and 03 soon. We are so happy to say that you can buy Radar at infoshops, social centers, book stores, galleries, shows, and zine tables across the country. We would love your help putting this journal into the hands of people who can test and improve these ideas in real struggle and practice. As always, we welcome feedback, criticism, corrections, and correspondence.
Orders will ship late this month. Email us directly for wholesale orders of 5+ issues.
